Dr Robert McCartney Occupational Physician, Resile & Chief Medical Officer, Woolworths

Dr McCartney is a physician who has specialised in the field of Occupational and Environmental Medicine for over 20 years.

He is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine with the Royal Australian College of Physicians and past president of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine.

While he has experience and expertise in all facets of this specialty, he has a particular interest in psychological health. His career goal is to maximise the psychosocial health, wellbeing and productivity of working people and minimise the psychological impacts from industrial practices.

By virtue of his education, training, skills and experience he retains specialised knowledge in the multidisciplinary field of Environmental Medicine involving medicine, environmental science, chemistry and pathology.

He assists organisations in gaining a better understanding of:

  • The interactions between environment and human health
  • The role of the environment in causing or mediating disease
  • The impact their industry may be having on the environment and population health through physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial factors
